Congratulations on your baby to be!
The newborn phase is perhaps the briefest phase in all of childhood, and certainly one of the most exciting.
Newborn shoots are unlike any other, and capture your little one during their first days.
All newborn shoots include:
• Editing/retouching of final images
• Swaddles, wraps, and props
• Parent/sibling/grandparent photos, if you’d like
• A trained assistant at the shoot, for your baby’s comfort and safety – you can just relax

When To Schedule Your Newborn Shoot
The best time to schedule your newborn session is when you are pregnant.
Many mothers do a maternity shoot during their pregnancy, to capture the memories leading up to their baby’s arrival.
I take a limited number of newborns each month, and reserve the time for each baby well in advance. I will always try to make space for newborns – it’s time sensitive – but it’s much easier to find time in advance.
Contact me during your pregnancy and, if the time is available, I’ll put your due date in my expectant mothers calendar.
The actual date of your shoot can be moved around based on when your baby is born. Of course your baby is going to arrive on her own time, but having your due date in my calendar means I have some guidelines about when to expect we will do our shoot.
Then, when your baby is born, you will email me and let me know. From there, we will pick a date (usually the new week) to do your newborn shoot.
Providing ample notice of both your due date and the baby’s arrival means that I can have plenty of time reserved to photography your little one.
Best Time To Do A Newborn Session
The best time to do a newborn shoot is typically when your baby is around 6 – 14 days old.
As I mentioned above, this is not the best time to schedule the newborn shoot. That should be done in advance.
Of course, if your baby is older than this, we can still do a shoot and great lovely images.
For the classic newborn look, the 6 – 14 day window generally works well, because baby is a little less fussy than during her first 5 or so days, and a little more likely to sleep and curl into classic newborn poses than when she is older than two weeks.
Babies younger than 5 days are sometimes a bit fussy, particularly if they are nursing.
We can of course still get lovely photos of your baby after he is 15 days old, but may not be able to get the classic “curled” newborn look.
Either way, it’s a lot of fun.
Locations – NYC Studio Newborn Photography & NYC At-Home Newborn Photography
Your newborn shoot can take place in your home, or at my Greenwich Village Manhattan newborn photography studio.
Some people want the comfort of being photographed at home, whereas others prefer the experience and ease of a studio shoot.
The experience can be customized to you. I specialize in newborn photography nyc and am happy to travel.
Regardless of the location, your baby’s safety and comfort always comes first.
All Swaddles, Lighting, Outfits, and Props Provided
Regardless of the location of your shoot, we have all the swaddles, lighting, outfits, and props required.
The only thing you have to bring is your baby!
What To Expect During Your Newborn Session
A newborn session typically lasts about an hour to three hours.
We have plenty of time for breaks, feedings, diaper changes, etc.
Newborn photo shoots are relaxed and move at a pace comfortable for your baby.
No pressure, and no rush.
I have plenty of blankets and swaddles and outfits, and am happy to incorporate any of your treasured pieces as well.
I like including different colors, and doing some simple all-white images too.
I like to keep things simple, with minimal props, so your baby can be the focus of the photos.
Of course, if you have any requests, let me know!
