Headshots For Actors, Models, and Performers

I offer headshots year round. The shoots can be outdoors or in studio, or both, and create eye-catching images.

We can do NYC headshots, or any other location. They can be color or black and white or both – whatever you desire.

These are great for actors, models, performers, executives, online daters – everyone!

Before your shoot, we’ll chat about your objectives, your “personal brand” and anything else relevant to customizing your headshots. We’ll capture you in your best light, and tell the store of who you are.

Kids Headshots NYC

I love working with children, and always have a great time doing child headshot photography.

And I do it a lot!

Whether your child is a seasoned pro wanting updated images, or a slightly shy first-timer, the shoot will be tailored to his or her needs.

We keep things relaxed, fun, and age-appropriate, both in terms of the posing and the length of the shoot.

Your shoot will result in impactful, eye-catching headshots that will be an asset to any portfolio.

These shoots are also a great way to get some professional experience in front of the camera, in a low-pressure setting.

Corporate Headshots

In addition to traditional NYC headshots for performers, etc. I offer corporate headshots.

We can customize the shoot to fit your company’s ethos, and/or to convey the message you want for your own professional headshots.

If we are photographing multiple employees, we can create a quick “what to wear” guide to ensure a cohesive look amongst the individuals, and keep things consistent with your company’s brand.

Your final headshots have the option to include gentle retouching of skin, hair, teeth, eyes, etc. and gentle slimming, upon request. As always, retouching is subtle, natural and flattering.

If your company is growing, I can come back and photograph each new hire and keep the style consistent for each employee.

Portfolio Shoots/Test Shoots

In addition to traditional headshots, you also have the option to do portfolio shoots, to diversify your portfolio.

These are a great opportunity for aspiring models and performers to get some experience in front of the camera. The shoots are low pressure, and result in stunning images that pack a punch.

We’ll do a mix of headshots, full-length, and 3/4 length images, so you have a lot of different looks.

They are photographed like a commercial modeling gig, and are a great addition to any portfolio.

These shoots take place in Manhattan.

 

Headshots for Online Dating

Another popular reason for headshots, is portraits for online dating. I LOVE these shoots.

These images are less “posed” looking than traditional headshots – you’re relaxed, and natural, and looking your best. You can bring a couple of different outfits so that you have a bunch of different looks.

The inspiration for this came from a friend who posted a couple photos I’d taken of her and met her HUSBAND shortly thereafter. It was so fun and exciting to play a tiny part in their introduction.

Something that I’ve done for a few online dating clients is help them select the other images they should post as well, so they have a well-rounded profile. A few men asked me to do this, and it’s been really fun.

You don’t want to look like you’re trying too hard with professional photos but posting a series of poorly-lit selfies in your messy apartment isn’t going to get you anywhere. We create a balance of your existing photos as well as some “candid” looking photos taken by me. Voila!

How To Prepare for Headshots

1. Be well-rested
2. Be hydrated
3. No dry skin
4. No chapped lips
5. Plan your clothing in advance
6. Consider getting your hair done
7. Consider getting your makeup done
8. No chipped nail polish

I’m happy to chat before your shoot, so you are totally prepared. The tips above are a great start however.

A great way to get rid of chapped lips to brush them vigorously with a toothbrush (and no toothpaste). It sounds a little gross, but it’s effective.

Be sure you are rested, and that you and your skin are hydrated. Moisturize your face the night before, and maybe in the morning. We don’t want you looking greasy, but NYC weather is tough on skin.

Familiarize yourself in advance with any products you plan to use the day of your shoot. You should confirm that the moisturizer doesn’t isn’t oily looking or (heaven forbid!) cause a rash. If you are going the self-tanning route, please proceed with caution! A little goes a long way.

Consider getting your hair done.

I will edit and retouch your headshots, but a little prep goes a long way for a great shoot.

The better prepared you are, the more relaxed you’ll feel, and this will come through in your photos.

Clothing Tips

Clothing should be simple and timeless.

No big logos, no graphic tees, no neon, or crazy patterns. The focus should be on you, the subject, rather than on your clothes.

We will discuss wardrobe before your shoot so you feel totally prepared!
