I recently had the pleasure of photographing this VERY charming toddler and his parents, at their house in Cambridge, MA. Although most of the photography I do is in the NY area, it’s always great to shake things up and work in a different city.
For this photo session we did a combination of photos at their home and at a nearby park. I like combining in-home and on location in a single shoot: it gives me the opportunity to capture a sense of the family’s day to day life, and then take advantage of some local scenery as well.
Children change so fast, and it’s wonderful to be able to look back on photos of the daily rituals that evolve or get replaced as the child grows. Families move to new houses, and children outgrow certain interests and routines; it’s always touching to look back and remember how different life was.
I always adore photographing a toddler in his own room, where he’s happy and confident and surrounded by his childhood treasures. Of everything I saw this active fellow get into, he was happiest reading with his mama, and being tossed over the shoulder of his doting dad.
This family is so funny and sweet, and unbelievably energetic even with a career in tech, a phd in the works, a spirited 1 year old, a darling dog, AND a baby on the way. Goodness, y’all, what’s next? Color me impressed! I couldn’t ask for a kinder or funnier bunch to work with. I can’t wait to meet your baby girl this winter!
Daisy, these shots (and your post!) are lovely, and we so enjoyed hanging out with you! Thanks again.
My pleasure! Thanks for a terrific afternoon!
