Summer is in full swing! It’s the best time of year for those us lucky enough to be Hamptons photographers. The water is (surprisingly!) warm, and the beaches make for a gorgeous setting for family photo shoots.

This fabulous family of six was such a joy. I’ve written before about how I often do shoots for people visiting NYC from out town. Of course this happens all the time in the Hamptons too. This lovely crew – Americans living abroad – was in from Thailand. It was an honor to document some of their time in the US. They are such a joyful and kind family. Their four kids were a riot and so polite. With a seven-year-old, two six-year-olds, and a three-year-old, we had a lot going on – it was fun to be a part of it all. I’m delighted with how their playful dynamic comes through in their family photos. It meant a lot that they dedicated some of their limited time back home to a family photo shoot; I’m sure there were so many things they wanted to do and people to see.

I’m so glad we got to do a shoot! I hope we can do one again next year.

I always like to do a mix of posed and candid photos, so you have some classic “holiday card” type portraits, as well as some more spontaneous images.

One of my favorite memories from the shoot came towards the end, when we were all splashing along the shore. Karina shouted excited to her twin sister, “Allegra! Let’s get our hair wet!” It was so sisterly and cute, it made me think of my own sister. It perfectly summed up summer fun, and sisterhood; after all, there is no bigger leap of faith or important vow than deciding together to get your hair wet.

All these joyful summer moments make me excited for my next Hamptons photo sessions, but also make me anxious for August not to go too quickly. I don’t ever want summer to end!
