I love repeat clients, they are one of my favorite aspects of being a family photographer. It’s always a joy to reunite for more photos, and build on the rapport from our last session. It’s fun to be included in important milestones in a child’s development, and to be a part of special family occasions.
Perhaps best of all, I love helping a family create a record over the years, and it’s so interesting to look back at how they have grown and changed. Some years have bigger changes than others, of course, but even when there are no huge developments it’s still lovely to be able to look back on how things once were.
Last year November I photographed my dear college friend and her family, and this month I returned to their apartment for more photos. I just love seeing their daughter grow up.
I thought it would be nice to recreate at least one shot from last year:
I can’t wait to add more photos to this! Only 38 more years until we have a collection like those of the Brown sisters. Getting there!
Here they are last year in Central Park:
Each year we have done a combination of portraits at their apartment, and in Central Park. It’s always great to take advantage of the local scenery, as well as the day-to-day moments that occur at home.
And here are some from this year. I can’t believe how much Grace has grown up! I look forward to seeing what’s the next 365 days brings for this dear family.
I really love shooting family photographs in Central Park. Here’s another recent shoot I did of family portraits in Alice’s Garden. Same park, but very different feel!
However, I’m a downtown gal, so of course I have to give a shout out to my local, oft-overlooked park, Washington Square. You can see some family portraits I recently shot there, here.
