Three generations in Bridgehampton! This gorgeous shoot brought me to a new family photo shoot location: the lovely Bridgehampton Club, in – not surprisingly – Bridgehampton, NY.

I work all over the South Fork of Long Island, but most often in East Hampton. So I felt a bit like an intrepid foreign news correspondent out on assignment as a ventured to Midocean drive in Bridgehampton. (Not really…) It’s always great to have an excuse to visit a new place, and the Bridgehampton Club did not disappoint.

This lovely family had gathered from all over the US for a summer vacation in the Hamptons. The adult daughters had grown up in the Hamptons, where their parents still lived. As young members of the Bridgehampton Club, the sisters had served as lifeguards, watching vigilantly from lifeguard stands on that very shore. There was something magical about seeing the next generation enjoy the same beach. These nostalgic summer moments are like catnip for someone as sentimental as yours truly – and I had only just met them! It was wonderful getting to document some of their precious time together.

With any family photo shoot, we do a mixture of posed holiday card photo money-shots, and more casual and unposed images. I also take portraits of different combinations and configurations of family members. Of course there are lots more possibilities in extended family photo shoots, and shoots with multiple generations. Shoots are relaxed and easygoing, allowing your family dynamics to shine.
